What if the most transformative spiritual practice isn't doing more, but simply being present? In this heart-to-heart episode of Faith Bits, we explore the often-forgotten art of returning to "the secret place" with God.

Many believers have inadvertently replaced relationship with religion, operating from fear, perfectionism, or the need for recognition rather than love. This subtle shift undermines the very purpose of our faith journey. When we pause to sit in God's presence without agenda, something remarkable happens—we position ourselves to hear what He's speaking over us, spirit to spirit.

The secret place looks different for everyone. Sometimes we weep as divine love touches our deepest wounds. Other times, we experience what I call "giddy joy"—that unexplainable bubbling up of delight that can only be attributed to God's presence. I share my own recent experience of approaching God with a burdened mind only to leave with unexpected joy. These aren't emotional manipulations but genuine encounters with a God who delights in His children.

Our spiritual disciplines—prayer, fasting, church attendance—were never meant to be boxes to check but pathways to intimacy. Without relationship as both foundation and goal, they become empty religious exercises. Today's invitation is simple yet profound: return to the secret place, let go of your burdens, and allow God to minister to your heart. In His presence is fullness of joy, freedom from fear, and the peace that transcends understanding. Ready to reconnect with the heart of your faith? Your secret place awaits.

Speaker 1:

Hey everyone, welcome back to Faith Bits with Allie. I'm your host, allie, with your daily Faith Bit. Get back to that secret place with the Lord where you could hear what he's speaking over you, what he's singing over you. Get back to that secret place. Stop trying to do it out of your own strength and, yes, we have things that God has called us to do. But we don't do it out of fear, we don't do it out of the need to be seen, we're not doing it out of perfectionism, but we're doing it out of a place of love for the Lord. So get back to that secret place with him and just see what he's saying. It may be a simple I love you, or it may be don't be so hard on yourself. But the Lord is waiting to speak to you and you may not hear an audible voice, but in the stillness, in the secret place, you're able to rightly align with what he's speaking, because he speaks spirit to spirit. That's how God speaks to us. And so let go of your cares, let go of your burdens and allow him to minister to your heart. You may begin to weep in his presence. You may experience joy unspeakable. You may experience joy unspeakable. I know, when I sat with him earlier today, I had all this stuff on my mind and then I just got giddy with joy and I knew it was God. I'm like, okay, god, he longs to bring us into that. So get back to a place of presence and intimacy and allow God to do what he needs to do.

Speaker 1:

Remember, we're not doing all of these works for nothing. We're not fasting, we're not praying, we're not going to church just to be seen or check the box. We're doing it ultimately to have a relationship with him, and so what's the point of it if there's no relationship? So go back, sit still with him. Go back, sit still with him and allow him to love on you.

Speaker 1:

Let me pray for you, lord. I thank you that you desire a genuine relationship with us, and that's what we're after. And so we seek your face, god. We seek your face with our whole entire being. God, lord, we let go of our cares, we let go of anxieties, we let go of fears and we just wait on you.

Speaker 1:

Whatever it is that you want to speak to us, god, whatever it is you want to do with us, god, we're here for it. We thank you that our frequency is being fine tuned. We thank you, god, for just another level, another level going deeper and deeper and deeper in you. And so, lord, whatever it is that you need to do, we're here for it. I'm sorry, I just have like this giddy with joy feeling, and I'm excited with what God wants to do in each and every one of us. And so, lord, I pray that we will be lovers of your presence, because in your presence there's fullness of joy, no more fear, no more anxiety, just peace, just love, just joy, and that's what we're coming into. On Jesus's name, I pray amen, peace, love and blessings.
